Road Test Report by Freek Stegmann
1997 Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit
Sunday 24 January 2021

Departing from Bush Hill in Randburg with the Mottley Crew, a nice bunch of keen bikers, we headed west towards the scenic farmlands of the Northwest Province.
The Bandit handled itself well in the suburban traffic, accelerating smoothly with plenty of torque through all the gears.
Reaching the open rural road, the Bandit was happy running freely at 5000rpm indicating 140km/h. The handling of the bike is comfortable and classic to its own for that era upright open front configuration. Braking is effective and the bike stays steady applying the brakes in a corner.
After a 160km trip, the consumption worked out to ±19km/litre, which is good for this era bike.
Overall, the bike is in excellent condition and any potential buyer can do so with utmost peace of mind.
